Structural Engineering for the New Audiology Hub at Lister Hospital

Adkins provided structural engineering support for the new paediatric and adult audiology hub at Lister Hospital, delivered for East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust.

The completed refurbishment provides an updated setting for hearing assessments, rehabilitation and specialist audiology care. The hub opened in May 2026.

We worked alongside IKON Architects and contractor R&B Refurbishment, with Mehrdad Bahari and James Powell providing Adkins’ structural engineering input.

The Trust’s clinical and estates teams worked with the designers to shape the facility around its intended use. The wider team included Wallace Whittle, Walker Cotter Safety and audiology specialist QuietStar.

The project had a demanding programme and a tight budget. Close collaboration across the team helped bring the refurbishment through to completion, with each consultant and specialist contributing within their own discipline.
