Project Description
Supporting Emergency Care Improvements at John Radcliffe Hospital
Adkins was appointed as structural engineer for an internal refurbishment and reconfiguration scheme at John Radcliffe Hospital for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The scheme forms part of the hospital’s Emergency Village programme. It includes an Emergency Assessment Unit, an Urgent Treatment Centre and a same day emergency care unit, alongside alterations to existing emergency department areas.
The proposals use space within the existing building next to A&E. The project moved into construction following Gateway 2 approval on 1 May 2026.
The team includes IKON as architect and Building Regulations Principal Designer, Marcon Construction as contractor and Adkins as structural engineer. Our involvement contributes to a wider programme intended to improve emergency care facilities.

We are pleased to be part of the team supporting this investment in the hospital.
